Wandering Wisconsin: Unique Roadside Art Attractions around Wisconsin

'Wandering Wisconsin' is a group of exciting roadside attractions comprised of nine different art environments, each of which tells a unique American story in art, tracing the artist's cultural heritage and traditions. The tour is presented by Wisconsin Art Environment Consortium, a group of not-for-profit organizations committed to the awareness and the preservation of these art environments. The Wandering Wisconsin self-guided tours are comprised of nine art environments among eight outdoor sites and one indoor location as well as suggested stops for dining, lodging and shopping along the way. The tour takes visitors along cross section of Wisconsin including the southwestern hills, up to the banks of the Mississippi, into the Northwoods, and along the shores of Lake Michigan. Visitors have the flexibility of spending a day, a weekend, or an extended vacation exploring the wonders of Wisconsin's rich and diverse art culture.
"With the other consortium members, we've created an amazing tour of these fun and educational sites throughout our state. We love that visitors can adapt these budget-friendly itineraries to suit their needs, whether they're interested in a day trip, a weekend or an extended vacation," said Shannon Luckey of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (one of the WI Art Environment Consortium members). "We chose to create a cell phone audio phone tour because we believed it was an exciting way for anyone visiting the area, or even those living here who want more information about Wisconsin's art community, to learn more about these fascinating art environments," she said.
These tours allow for anyone to create their own itinerary using maps and suggested lodging and dining stopping points, which are available on the Wandering Wisconsin website (www.jmkac.org/wanderingwisconsin) or by requesting a map by calling 920-458-6144. All visitors of Wandering Wisconsin are encouraged to share their unique and fun experiences on their Facebook pages read the delightful stories others have shared.
